Jean Marie Cook (nee Svoboda)
84 of Mokena passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021 at her home surrounded by family. Jean was born in Chicago to the late Arthur and Marcella (nee McGowan) Svoboda. Beloved wife of James R. Cook; loving mother of Michael (Barbara) Cook, Thomas Cook, Mary Ann (Ken) Murphy, Pam (Frank) Schibli, and Dan (Diane) Cook; cherished grandmother of 10 and great grandmother of 5; dear sister of Daniel (late Mary Ellen) Svoboda, Joan (late Jack) McGeever, and the late Nancy Svoboda; former sister-in-law of the late Lillian Svoboda; loved aunt of numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials in Jean’s name to Lightways Hospice would be appreciated. The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, New Lenox on Friday, November 26, 2021 from 3pm – 7pm. Funeral Services Saturday, November 27, 2021 with prayers at the funeral home at 9:30am to St. Jude Catholic Church, New Lenox for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Interment to follow at Manhattan Center Cemetery, Manhattan, IL.
