Jerry Wayne Collins

Jerry Wayne Collins, 78, went to the Lord Thursday, February 15, 2018.
He was born January 28, 1940 in Sullivan, Illinois. He was the son of Reo Collins and Viola (Ingram) Florey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step father Charles "Shorty" Florey, brothers Clifford and Rick (Barbara Bruce Collins), sisters Dorothy (Howard) Vieweg and Linda Wellner.
Jerry married his school sweetheart, Donna Heinecke Collins. His wife of fifty-nine years survives him as do his beloved children; Geri Lynn (Mike) Boudreau of Champaign, IL, Jeff (Tracie) Collins of Melbourne, FL, Kenneth (Robin) Collins of Cocoa Beach, FL, his grandchildren: Ryan Pfefferkorn, Emily Pfefferkorn, David Boudreau, Brandy (Patrick) Breckenridge, Tim (Katie) Boudreau, Alicia Boudreau, Adam Pittman, and Evan (Chloe) Pittman, his great grandchildren; Vincent, Dominic, Iris, Asher, Lucy and Palmer. Also surviving him are his sister-in-law, Caroline (Holme) Collins and Dick Wellner. Jerry and Donna have several life-long friends that they gathered many cherished memories with as well.
Jerry attended Lincoln Way Central High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. Jerry retired from Wyman Gordan/Krupp Hoesch where he participated in the company softball team.
Jerry was an active member of Danville First United Methodist Church where he previously guided a group of men in their faith as president of the Methodist Men's Club and helped organize the annual Men's Golf Outing. He also volunteered his time to individuals receiving hospice care.
In his free time, Jerry loved playing games, especially trivial pursuit, euchre, 500 rummy, dominos and sequence. Jerry enjoyed wood carving, fishing, boating, camping, bonfires, golfing and was a cinnamon roll enthusiast. He also traveled extensively with his wife, Donna, and their family throughout the United States.
Earlier in life Jerry and his brother, Rick coached his sons in little league baseball. Years later his passion was still present as he watched his grandsons play ball. He enjoyed meeting new people. He loved the Lord, his family and he made an impression on every child he met. He had a special bond with every one of his grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. He played games, taught them tricks and told the children stories.
He will be missed dearly by all.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 23rd from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423
Funeral will be held Saturday, February 24th at 1:00 p.m. at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423.
Memorial will be held Tuesday, February 27th at 1:00 p.m. at Danville First United Methodist Church, 1400 Vermillion St, Danville, IL 61832.
