John Francis Miller, age 73, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022.
John is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Linda (nee Galamback) Miller; children, Kelly (James) Miller, Michael (Laurie) Smith, and Michelle (John) Janus; grandchildren, Brian (Nina) Miller, Luke (Allison) Miller, Kye Smith, Evan Smith, Noah Janus, Adam Janus, and Amber Janus; greatgrandchildren, Isla Miller, Greyson Miller, and Charlie Miller; and his siblings, Ron (Karen) Miller, Dan (JoAnn) Miller and James (Kelly) Miller..
He is preceded in death by his parents Francis and Betty (nee McGuire) Miller; and his sister Beverly Wondrasek.
John was a proud US Army veteran who bravely served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW in New Lenox. John was a big Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed watching the games. John was a gentle giant who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He truly enjoyed his retirement in Naples, Florida. His greatest joy in life though came from spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They meant the world to John. He was a kind man and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
Services for John will begin on Thursday, March 3, 2022 with a memorial visitation at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Rd. in New Lenox, from 4pm-8pm. There will be a short visitation the following day, Friday, March 4, 2022 from 10am until the time of memorial service at 11:15. John will be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wounded Warrior Project in John’s name would be appreciated.
