80, of Mokena, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at his home. John was born in Chicago to the late Edward R. and Marie (nee Conroy) Murphy. Beloved and loving husband of Patricia (nee Judge); devoted father of Kathleen (the late Randy) Sharp, John Jr. (Colleen), Michael (Elizabeth), David, and Kelly (Luke) Cosco; cherished Papa of Lauren (Matthew) Drake, Matthew Sharp, MaryColleen, John III, Brendan, Kevan, Moira, Claire, Madeline, Grace, Danielle, Katie, Kelly, and Shannon Murphy, Luke, Amanda, and Ryan Cosco; great grandfather of Conor and Colin Drake; dear brother of the late Edward (Alice) Murphy, the late Peggy (the late Edward) Brennan, the late Therese (the late John) Schmidt; fond uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. John was the Owner / President of Murphy Electric. In lieu of flowers, memorials in John's name to Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated. Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Rd. New Lenox IL 60451 on Friday, July 22, 2016 from 3:00 to 9:00 PM. Funeral service Saturday, July 23, 2016 with 9:30am prayers at the funeral home to St. Mary Catholic Church, Mokena for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Interment will be private.
