John J. “Shorty” Sicinski Jr.
Age 87, a resident of Joliet, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2018. Beloved husband of 64 years to Dolores Sicinski (Blahut); loving father of Jim (Gail) Sicinski, Michelle (Cass) Wennlund, and Karen (Dan) Mahalik; cherished grandfather of Katelyn Sicinski, Jake (Kelsie) Sicinski, Kirsten Sicinski, Derek (Jorie) Ellenberger, Alyssa (Ben) Hecke, Tommy (Ashley Gardner) Stein, Colt Wennlund, Luke Wennlund, Kevin Mahalik, and Courtney Mahalik; and great-grandfather of Drake Ellenberger, Liam Hecke, and Mariellen Hecke; dear brother of Beverly (Jim) Jaeger; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and lifelong friends of Bill Fox and Benny Cervan. John was preceded in by his parents John J. Sicinski Sr. and Lottie Sicinski (Swandak) and siblings Tony Sicinski, Bea Bedran, and Dorothy Sklenar. John was an United States Army Veteran, member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in New Lenox, and former owner of Atlas Painting and Decorating of Joliet. The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Rd., New Lenox, IL 60451 on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 3-7 PM. Funeral service Thursday, September 27, 2018 with chapel prayers at 10:30 AM to St. Jude Catholic Church, 241 W. 2nd Ave., New Lenox, IL 60451 for a 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations to Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Waterstone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431 or the Parkinson’s Foundation, www.parkinsons.org would be appreciated.
