Julius J. Jankauskis, age 96, passed away peacefully at his son Steven’s home in Albuquerque, NM on Saturday, March 30, 2024, with family by his side. Julius was born January 11, 1928, in Chicago to the late Peter and Veronica Jankauskis. He grew up in the Roseland neighborhood where he met and then married his wife Gloria Strapazzon in 1962. Julius and Gloria raised their family in Dolton, then later moved to Frankfort, where Julius lived until moving west to Albuquerque in 2020.
An avid bowler his entire life, Julius proudly bowled on a team with three generations of his family including his son Jim and grandson Joshua. He also cherished being a member of the choir of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Frankfort for 26 years, and at Queen of Apostles in Riverdale many years prior to moving to Frankfort.
Julius is survived by his son Jim and his wife Vivian, son Steven and his husband James Tapia; sister Anne Petriekis; grandchildren Joshua Jankauskis, Heather Lamber, and Nick Lamber and his wife Lisa; great-grandson Finnegan Lamber; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Julius was preceded in death by his wife Gloria, his parents Peter and Veronica, Gloria’s parents Albert and Constance Strapazzon, his siblings Martha Jankauskis, John and Lois Jankauskis, and Eddie and Ruby Jankauskis; and brother-in-law Tony Petriekis.
