“To know Karen Moloney is to love Karen Moloney.”

Karen Moloney, age 60 (08-28-57) died of bile duct cancer in her New Lenox, IL home on August 20, 2018. She was surrounded by the loving energy of her family and large group of friends. Her parents, Arlene and Jack Moloney, have been her biggest cheerleaders since, well, since her birth. Karen was the oldest in a sibship of eight. Like all families there have been squabbles and bickering along with loads of love, support and laughter.

Karen was the proud owner of the Wehrli Road DQ in Naperville IL. She has been woven into the hearts and fabric of the community, which she had served and loved for over 15 years. Karen was also a passionate golfer. She played as often as she could in IL and Phoenix AZ, where she spent her winters. Her strength in hitting the long drive was the envy and joy of all who played with her.

Karen became committed to raising awareness and money for the prevention of youth suicide after an employee of hers, a young man she had known for years, died by suicide. How brilliant of her to combine her passion and commitment to establish the Annual Dilly Bar Golf Outing. It has been held in Naperville, IL four of the last five years. Karen implores each of us to crash through the silence and shame to talk about depression and other mental health struggles.

A visitation will be held at St. Jude Church in New Lenox, IL on Saturday August 25, 2018 from 9am until time of Memorial Mass at 10am.
