Karl D. Baumhardt

Karl D. Baumhardt, age 75, passed away peacefully Friday, October 18, 2024 at Lightways

Hospice in Joliet.

Karl is survived by his beloved wife, Rosemarie (nee Brantwein) Baumhardt; his sons, Daniel

(Andrea) Baumhardt, and Peter (Laura) Baumhardt; his grandchildren, James, Joseph, Ava

Maria, and Blayke; and his sister Jeanine (Alan) Fournier.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Arlyn and Mariette Baumhardt.

Karl was a United States Navy Veteran who proudly served his country between the years of

1966-1969 aboard the USS Horne. Upon returning home, Karl began his over 30-year career as

a printer. He then moved on to be a School Bus driver for District 57 in Mount Prospect. In his

free time, Karl was an avid fisherman, loved the outdoors, and was a dedicated fan of the

Chicago Bears and the Chicago Cubs.

Services for Karl will begin on Monday, October 28, 2024 with a visitation at Kurtz Memorial

Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, in Frankfort, from 4pm until 8pm. Services will continue the

following day, Tuesday, October 29, 2024 with a brief visitation from 9:30am until the time of

service at 10:30am. Karl will be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL

with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his memory to PAWS

Chicago.
