Katelyn D. Schmidt (Alexa)

Katelyn Diane Schmidt (36) of Austin, TX formerly of Frankfort, IL went to our Lord and Savior unexpectedly August 21, 2023. Katie is survived by her wife Melissa Wells and her stepson Makay Wells. She will be deeply missed by her loving parents Peggy (Shinnick) and Ken Alexa, her brothers Kenny and Connor and sister Maggie.

She is survived by her maternal grandparents, Bob and Ann Shinnick and paternal grandparents Diane and Harry Hartnett and her father Michael Schmidt.

She will be missed greatly by her many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Katie was a graduate of Lincoln-Way East high school in 2005 and Western Illinois University in 2009. Her move to Texas brought her great joy as she was able to have enough land to play with her precious dogs Hunter and Odin. Katie’s life, though cut short, was filled with loving family get togethers, for which her favorite moments were with her siblings. She cherished all her friends and the memories they shared through get togethers, deep discussions on historical events, Rugby matches and a good bonfire. Katie’s smile lit up the room. Her infectious laugh and kind heart will be forever remembered.

Visitation is Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 11:00 to 3:00 at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423. Memorial service to immediately follow.
