Kathy Helsel-Peternell

Kathy P. Helsel-Peternell, passed away on Tuesday, October 19th, 2021 at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Kathy is survived by her son, Stephen (Katie) Peternell; siblings, David (Ann) Helsel and Joseph (Michele) Helsel; grandchildren, Hudson, and Barrett Peternell; niece, Amber (Jeff) Coates, Mandy (Adam Schoff) Helsel, Genevieve Helsel, and Makenzie Helsel; nephews, Joshua (Jackie) Helsel, Joseph (Lauren) Helsel, Charles Helsel, Anthony Helsel, David Helsel, Justin Peternell, and Ryan Peternell; and sister-in-law Christie Helsel.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald, and Delores (nee Merrell) Helsel; siblings, Charles Helsel and Janet Helsel.

Kathy was a loving woman who always put her family before all else. She found great joy in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed taking family vacations to Disney World where her and all her family had the time of their lives. Christmas and Thanksgiving were also very special times of the year for her because she was able to see all the people that she loved so much. She also adored working at her family’s business, Helsel-Jepperson Electrical Inc. Kathy will be missed by all that knew her.

Services for Kathy will begin on Friday, October 22nd, 2021 with a visitation at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, in Frankfort, IL from 1-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Lawrence O’Tool at 11am on Saturday, October 23rd, 2021. Kathy will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Steger.
