Kenneth Edward English, 67, passed away suddenly, Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at his home in Dana Point, California. Ken was born June 16, 1946 to Robert and Rosemary (Peyton) English in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from St. Rita High School in the class of 1965. In 1966 Ken enlisted in the Army and served on a communication site in Qui Nhon Province, during the Vietnam War. Ken continued his career in telecommunications at Illinois Bell and AT&T/Lucent Technologies Bell Laboratories for 34 years. He dedicated many years toward the development and marketing of telephony switching systems including the 5ESS Switch, ending his career in his ultimate job as a Bell Labs Field Rep traveling throughout the United States and England. Ken is survived by his wife and best friend, Yvonne; amazing children: son, Michael (Jennifer) English; daughter Cori (Jim) Crawford; stepdaughters, Shannon Swan and Lindsay Swan (Hunter Weber); stepson; Tad (Hadley) Gnatowski; eight extraordinary grandchildren, Madilyn and Allyson English, Owen and Logan Crawford, Rain Swan, Kendall and Indigo Gnatowski , and Bodhi Pollach; brothers, Ronald and Patrick English; sister, Kimberly English; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert English, and a niece, Sherry English. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the American Heart Association would be appreciated. Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 102 E. Francis Rd, New Lenox IL 60451 on Thursday, December 5, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 8:00 p.m.
