Obituary for Lake G. Sedberry Jr.
Lake G. Sedberry, Jr., 72 of New Lenox, IL passed away May 25, 2022 surrounded by the love of his family. Loving husband of 45 years to Debra Sedberry nee Cohen, beloved father of Alicia (Paul) Sines and Matthew (Michelle) Sedberry both of Highland, IN, cherished Papa of Amelia Lake Sines, Hunter Samuel Sines and Liam Sedberry. Dear brother of Tim (Wanda) Autry of Pembroke, KY, late Alfred (Martha) Sedberry of Hopkinsville, KY and Barbara (late Fred) Finley of Guthrie, KY. Son-in-law of the late Sam and Fern Cohen, brother-in-law of Steven (Linda) Cohen, Linda (Fred) Colhardt and MaryRose Ramacci. Loving uncle to many. Lake was born to the late Lake G. and Dorothy (Glass) Sedberry, Sr. on Jan, 28, 1950 in Honolulu, HI, while Mr. Sedberry, Sr. was serving in the Army. The family moved back to Hopkinsville, KY where Lake grew up with his siblings. He served six years in the US Army Reserves and attended college at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN and University of Kentucky before relocating to the South suburban Chicago area for work. That is when Lake met the love of his life, Debra Cohen. They married on June 5, 1977. They bought a home in Glenwood and raised their children, Alicia and Matthew. In 2002, They moved to New Lenox. Lake was an avid athlete who enjoyed playing tennis especially with his brother, Tim, Basketball with his son Matt and loved to golf. The best times of his life were spent with his family, kids, and grandbabies. He was a regional manager for several large retail companies before owning and operating a Mattress Express in Frankfort with his son Matthew. Services will be held privately.
