Laszlo “Les” Horvath
Born April 7, 1936, in Ascalag, Hungary, passed away December 13, 2023, New Lenox, IL. Survived by his dear wife Verna (nee Lajcin); devoted son, Robert; loving granddaughter, Mandy (Matt) Lewis; brother Karol (Erzi) Horvath; sisters-in-law, Josie DeBartolomeo, Fran Ziemetz, Mari Horvath, Ann Horvath; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins remain. Proceeded in death by his parents Jozsef and Irma (nee Gitze) Horvath; his son, Charles Horvath; brothers Jozsef Horvath, and Gustav Horvath; sister, Iren (late Imri) Micholics; nephew, Imri Micholics; hometown and lifelong friends Jozsef Poloskei, and John Hideg. We appreciate the caring and welcoming of the families of Horvath, Bondy, Nemeth and Bodor relatives of Lansing, MI. Les was employed at Universal Lockport Corporation, and Lockport Steel Fabricators and was a member of Boilermakers Local 1. We express deep gratitude to all family, friends, and neighbors for their care and concern for Les. Most, especially we are deeply grateful to a lifelong, precious friend Phyllis Olsta for all her kindness and her generous heart. Les enjoyed traveling with family, friends, and neighbors. Special interests were fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, gardening, cooking, and he liked to express his good humor. Les was a faithful church goer to Saint Jude Catholic Church in New Lenox. He was known as a good provider for his family and was active in Boy Scout Troop 12 in New Lenox, IL. The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 102 E. Francis Rd, New Lenox, IL on Monday, December 18, 2023, from 10:00am until time of Funeral Service at 1:00pm. Interment will be private at SS Cyril & Methodius Cemetery, Joliet, IL.
