Laurene “Laurie” Marie Scaccia, age 69, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, with her loving family by her side. She was blessed with a well-deserved peaceful passing, after courageously battling several illnesses for many years.
Laurie is survived by her beloved husband, James Scaccia; daughters Stacy (Nick) Rutovic and Julie (Jake) Usalis; and stepchildren Jeff (Sybil) Scaccia, Nicole (George) Durko, and Brian (Michelle) Scaccia. This proud grandmother leaves behind 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild who all absolutely adored her: Vivienna and Gavin Rutovic; Sienna and Ander Usalis; Kyle and Mia Scaccia; Drake and Nina Durko; Taylor, Rocco, Lucas, Jemma, Allison, and Joselyn Scaccia; and Angelo Scaccia. She is also survived by her in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Laurie is preceded in death by her parents Donald and Margaret “Peggy” Benedetto, brother, sister, father-in-law, and sister-in-law.
Laurie will be forever remembered for her many enduring qualities. Her smile was infectious and could light up even the darkest of rooms. Even in times of struggle, Laurie continued to brighten the lives of those around her with her buoyant, light-hearted nature and never-fading silly sense of humor. Those who loved Laurie knew of her ability to turn anything and everything into a song.
Laurie was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother. Her selfless nature led her to always place her loved ones above all else. She always worked so hard in an effort to care for (and spoil) her family. She was a great listener and an even better problem solver. She was able to make the biggest worries seem tiny with the most amazing hug.
Laurie was constantly seeking her next artistic endeavor that showcased her talent and creativity. Because she also was extremely strong-willed and determined, she was able to convert her dreams into successful realities. Her drive to follow her passion and achieve her goals has been an inspiration and a source of pride to so many, especially her husband and daughters.
