Linda C. Cisneros
71, of Angola, IN, formerly of New Lenox and Garden Homes, IL, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at her home with her children by her side. Linda was born in Evergreen Park to the late Samuel and Frances (nee Cain) Heer. Beloved wife of the late Raul; devoted mother of Tawnie (Bill Lindich) Cisneros, and Armando (Allison) Cisneros; cherished grandmother of Hudson Lindich; dear sister of the late Samuel Heer, the late Annabelle Heer, Beverly Heer, the late Julian Heer, the late Glen Heer, Edgar (Irina) Heer, and Diana (Mark) Goins; dear sister-in law of Emilia (Ricky) Kilpatrick, Ruth (Chuck) Hammerstein, Rebecca (late Doug) Huntley, and Silvia (late Eric) Gale; and deeply loved by many nieces and nephews.
Linda retired from a 38-year career in medical office management, where she provided for her family and demonstrated her unique ability to care for the sick and suffering among us. She worked for a prominent Joliet surgeon for many years before establishing her own medical coding business, and later trained others in coding.
Linda was a gentle soul, quietly observant of the nature and needs of those she loved. She served her family with a brimming love that bonded them together in safety and tenderness. With the wisdom gained from her storied life, she offered a haven for her loved ones to share their joys and sorrows, seek thoughtful advice, and come away refreshed and hopeful. Her kitchen was her refuge and stage, where she – frequently covered in a fine dusting of confectioners sugar – baked incredible treats with a gift for timing and taste, always delivering the favorites of her family and friends.
She loved music in all forms, from live concerts to garage jam sessions to her favorite tunes on the radio. As a frequent passenger on Raul’s Harley-Davidson, she traveled all over the United States, charming the tough and burly motorcycle crowd with her soft and sweet presence. Her favorite place was anywhere her family was, though she held the Mississippi River in Bellevue, Iowa, especially close to her heart. She enjoyed many peaceful camping trips there, starting with her honeymoon, and more recently with Raul and their grandson, Hudson, calling themselves "The Three River Rats."
Above all else, Linda’s heart and soul always lay with her family. She met her husband, Raul, as a teenager and shared an incredible love story with her “Mr. Man” for more than 50 years. The seventh of eight children, she led her family as the caregiver for her parents, the family historian, and the protector of her siblings. She made her children the cornerstone of her life, selflessly loving and cherishing Tawnie and Armando with patience and pride. Over the decades, her love freely expanded to their friends, earning her the monikers of "Mrs. C" and "Mama Cisneros," and she welcomed one and all into her home and her heart. The greatest joy of her later life was Hudson, “My Suga.” Through countless snuggles, sleepovers, waffles and games of Battleship and Uno, she instilled in him her unshakeable sense of wonder, inner confidence, kindness, and generosity.
This incomparable woman defined grace and indomitable spirit in a world that needs both.
