Lois H. Flanagan (nee Howe)
Age 89, formerly of New Lenox, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Presence St. Joseph Hospital, Chicago. Lois was born in Chicago to the late George and H. Florence (nee Kennedy) Howe. Loving mother of Maureen (Greg) Broderick, Colleen Flanagan, Martin III (Karla), Thomas (Patti), and Daniel (Ronna); cherished grandmother of Patrick (Elisabeth), Brianne, and Michael Broderick, MaryPat, Blaine, Bryce, Andrew, Dylan, Colin, and Connor Flanagan; and great-grandmother of Jacob and Joshua Broderick; Dear sister of Bernadine (the late Donald) O'Keefe; Loving aunt of Maryellyn (James) Friel, Jeanne O'Keefe and the late Kevin O'Keefe. She was preceded in death by Martin P. Flanagan Jr. Lois was a graduate of DePaul University and a member of Rho Delta Pi. She was the first female Water Plant Operator in the State of Illinois and was Owner of several successful businesses. Family will receive friends at the Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Rd, New Lenox IL 60451 on Friday, April 11, 2014 from 4-9pm. Funeral Service Saturday, April 12, 2014 with chapel prayers at 9:30 AM to St. Jude Catholic Church, 241 West 2nd Ave., New Lenox, IL 60451 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment St. Mary's, Evergreen Park.
