Loretta Kartch

Loretta (nee DeSantis) Kartch, age 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 6, 2023 with her family and friends by her side.

Loretta is survived by her beloved husband Richard of nearly 55 years; daughters, Dina and Nikki; grandson, Tracker; sister, Madeline; and 32 nieces and nephews and several cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Virginia (nee Quagliano) DeSantis; and her sister, Andrea and brother Stanley.

Loretta was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1948. Much of her early years she was raised in New York and New Jersey. At the age of 15 she and her family moved to the Chicago-area where she met the love of her life, Richard, in high school. Shortly after their graduation, Richard was drafted into the Army. On October 12, 1968, eleven days upon his return from Vietnam, they were married. Loretta was a loving and caring mom to her daughters, along with many others that she happily took under her wing and to which she opened her home and heart. She always gave great advice and guidance. She was an extremely organized person, always cleaning and paying attention to detail. Loretta was very proud of her southern Italian heritage. She was a news junkie, always scanning the internet for articles on any number of topics. She was tough as nails, but at the same time, the most empathetic person you could encounter. She had many close friends, some as far back as childhood. She was extremely loved and will be missed dearly by all that knew her.

Services for Loretta will begin on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 with a visitation at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, in Frankfort from 2-9pm. Services will continue the following day with a visitation at the funeral home from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am. Loretta will be laid to rest at Good Shepherd Cemetery in Orland Park.
