Louis "Lou" J. Dedo, age 93, our treasured father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend to all, left us while sleeping peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.
Louis is survived by his two loving children Edward CPD, Angela (Bruce) Bertalmio; grandchildren Marina (Marty), Aaron MD, Jessica, Nicole, and Brittany; great grandchildren, Louis and Dean; and numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends.
He is preceded in death by his cherished wife Rosie; son John; his parents; and his twelve siblings.
Louis will be remembered for being a Master Chief of the United States Coast Guard for 26 years. The last ship he commanded was The Wedge out of New Orleans, LA. Avid Polka dancer and proud member of Polka USA. Therapy Tuesday at Major Hall. Fondly called the Happy Birthday Guy. He enjoyed his Crossword puzzles, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. He was a longtime resident of the Vittum Park -Midway area and a longtime parishioner and Usher of Our Lady of the Snows Parish.
Services for Louis will begin on Friday, April 28, 2023 with a visitation at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Rd. in New Lenox, from 4pm-8:30pm. Services will continue the following day with a brief visitation at the funeral home from 9am-10:30am, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church in New Lenox at 11am. Louis will be laid to rest next to his wife and son at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, IL.
