Margaret Begg

Margaret (“Rita”) Begg (nee Harrington), age 86 passed away peacefully in the morning of Thursday, April 16, 2020 after a brief illness.

Beloved wife of the late William Begg. Loving mother of William, Alison (nee Barna) and Brian. Cherished grandmother of Lauren, Kyle, Tyler, Megan, Hailey, Rylee, Kelli and Elise. Survived by Sister, Una Duffy (nee Harrington) of Liverpool, England and brother, Dennis (Mary) Harrington of County Cork, Ireland.

Rita was born in County Cork, Ireland, one of eight children. She completed nurses training in Ireland and immigrated to the US during her mid-20s for a better opportunity. She began work as a Labor and Delivery nurse at Oak Park Hospital and met her future husband William Begg at a dance in Chicago who had immigrated from Scotland himself. They enjoyed a full life together raising their 3 children, owning lake property in Michigan and eventually enjoying retirement in Florida.

Rita was very proud of her nursing career which continued well into retirement years. She was a strong, compassionate and generous woman who later in years was known to “tell it like it is”.

Above all she loved to take care of her family, in addition to enjoying reading Daniel Steele novels, playing Pinochle and going garage sailing.

She brought so much love into our lives and we will miss her greatly
