Michelle Marie Ruiz (nee LeGrett)

August 11, 1961 - September 28, 2024

Ruiz, Michelle age 63, of New Lenox, IL, formerly of Canandaigua, NY, passed away peacefully with her children by her side at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, IL on Saturday, September 28, 2024.

Beloved wife to the late Ralph Ruiz; cherished daughter to the late Frank and Helen LeGrett; loving mother to her four children Jaime Lynn LeGrett (Christopher Delarosa); Nicole Marie Sluiter (Gerald); Ryann Lindsay Ruiz; and Dominic Frank Ruiz; and adoring grandmother to Raymond Lee, Rylee Ruiz, Francesca Sluiter, August Sluiter, Briella Sluiter, Iris Ruiz, Alexander Zemaitis, and Jamison Zemaitis. Also survived by her brother Richard LeGrett (Vicki) and her sister Kimberly Alcayaga; her brother and sister-in-laws Greg Ruiz (Barbara), late Linda Ryneic, late Thomas Perez (?), Anita Finnegan, and late Thomascita Pack; many nieces and nephews; extended family; and many friends. Michelle is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Ruiz; her parents Frank and Helen LeGrett; her Aunt Catherine Ramirez; and her Uncle Ralph LeGrett.

Michelle grew up in the Canandaigua and Auburn New York areas with her family. Michelle loved to spend a lot of time at the lake with her cousins and friends. She moved to New Lenox, IL in 1979 with her parents and siblings. There, she was a graduate of Lincoln-Way Central High School in 1979. Michelle loved music, especially going to concerts.  She loved shopping, getting her hair and nails done, and fine dining at her favorite restaurants. Michelle loved playing dice and cards and was the biggest card shark in the family. She loved spending time with her family and friends and loved all of them dearly. One of her greatest joys throughout her life was watching her grandchildren grow and spoiling them.

Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel on Thursday, October 10, 2024 with a visitation from 3pm-8pm. Services will continue the following day Friday, October 11, 2024 with a visitation from 10am until the time of service at 11am. Michelle will be laid to rest at St. John Cemetery in Mokena.
