Milton R. Francis
Milton Rowley (Mickey)Francis went to be with the Lord on January 24, 2019. Born June 23, 1926 in Joliet and raise in New Lenox and Lockport. Graduated from Lockport Township High School in 1944. From there he joined the Army and served in WWII. Upon returning to the states, he married his sweetheart and wife of 63 years, Rose Claire (Bea) Krieger (2009). They began their family and resided in Lockport.
Mick continued a life of service with dedication to his family and community. Mick and Bea raised their daughters in the Covenant Community Church of Lockport. Mick was part of the church council, Sunday School teacher, choir member and other activities. He enjoyed being on the Men’s Dartball Team. He was honored by the league and inducted into the Lockport Church Dartball League Hall of Fame. Mick most recently attended the Church of the Good Shephard of Joliet.
He served his community as a Taft Grade School board member and Alderman for his district. Mick was also a life member of the VFW. Mick retired from ComEd after 43 years of service. During those years, he dedicated free time to the development of CECO.
After retirement, Mick and Bea would make a yearly venture to Cook, MN to share their mutual love of fishing. The Cook Covenant Church became extend family.
They found sanctuary from the cold winters in Florida. There Mick and Bea golfed, played cards with friends, and danced whenever and wherever possible. Mick also marshalled for PGA golf tournaments where he met many of his favorite golf pros.
To be close to family, Mick and Bea moved back to the area and lived at the Timbers. There they soon became active members of their new community.
He is survived by his daughters, Marsha Dee (Mark) Kempen of Green Bay, WI and Tyna Melissa Horn (John Guarino) of Shorewood, IL; granddaughters Amy Dee Bacon-Francis (Mark Dionne) of Palmetto, FL., Anina Dee Bacon (Van Nguyen) of Auburn, WA, Melissa (Daniel) Vincent of Richmond, MN; and Tyna Jo Meemken (Terry). Great-grandchildren, Ethan Francis, Isabelle Asma, and Jack, Emma, and Max Vincent; also survived by 3 nieces and dear friend Mary Cusimono. The family would like to extend a special Thank-You to Joliet Hospice for their wonderful care.
Preceded in death by his wife, Bea; his parents, Wilber and Isabell (Rowley)Francis; his siblings, Adella (Ray) Meadows, Isabell (Roy) Clark, Wilber Harold (Dorothy) Francis.
Family will be receiving friends at Goodale Memorial Chapel, 913 South Hamilton Street, Lockport, Friday, February 1, 2019 from 3:00 and 8:00 PM. Funeral Service, Saturday, February 2 at 10:00AM at the funeral home. Interment Maplewood Cemetery, New Lenox. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Waterstone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431, Church of the Good Shepherd Evangelical Covenant Church, 2437 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL 60435 or Cook Covenant Church, 11 2nd St E, Cook, MN 55723 would be appreciated.
