Age 97, resident of Frankfort, IL passed away on April 4, 2016. Beloved husband of Dorothy nee Mueller; loving father of Roger (Petronella) Pampel, Kenneth (Mary) Holmgren, Valerie (Joe) Snead, and Daniel (Barbara) Holmgren; cherished grandfather of 10 and great-grandfather of 7; also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews. Howard was preceded in death by his first wife Catherine nee Lanzer and son Lee Pampel. Howard was a captain in the Army during World War II and also served in Korea. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Frankfort, the Frankfort VFW, Frankfort American Legion, Local 802 Musician's Club, and Bond Club of Chicago. He was an original Charter member's of Prestwick Country Club, past member of the Elks, and an avid golfer. Howard was a proud United States Army Veteran, dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be sorely missed and never forgotton. The family will receive friends at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 177 Lutheran Lane , Frankfort, IL 60423, on April 22, 2016 from 9:00 AM until time of Memorial Service at 10:00 AM.
