Age 79, of New Lenox, passed away on Saturday, 7th, 2014. Beloved husband of Janet nee Ackerman; loving father of Scott Foster, Charles (Denise) Proper, Christine (Roland) Janato, and Jennifer Proper; cherished grandfather of Shane (Katie) Foster, Melanie (Chad) Irwin, Anthony (Kristine) Proper, Adam (Monique) Proper, Theresa (Christopher) Proper, Angela Saenz-Lamb, Eric (Cheryl) Saenz, Suzanne (Mark) Haglund, Christine (Jake) Fris, and Steven (Nicole) Stamm; and great-grandfather of 19; dear brother of 7 step-siblings; also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by 2 step-siblings. Sam was and Army Veteran, member of the American Legion in New Lenox, and Owner and Operator of Kings Row Barber Shop in New Lenox for 52 years. He was past member of the New Lenox Chamber of Commerce and member of the Caterpillar Camping Club. He enjoyed camping, gardening, golfing, bon-fires, and "snow-birding" in Ft. Meyers, Florida. Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Road, New Lenox, IL 60451 on Thursday, June 12th, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Friday, June 13th, 2014 from 11:30 AM until time of Funeral service at 12:30 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment, Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
