Phyllis Ann Caneva
Phyllis Ann Caneva (Winkler) Age 82, life- long resident of Lockport, passed away Friday, March 23, 2018 from complications of liver cancer. She is survived by beloved husband of 60 years, Dr. Reno Caneva; children Renee (Tom) Dickey, Dr. Daryl (Ana) Caneva, Dr. Duane (Christine) Caneva, and Adrienne (Gene) Trent. Phyllis loved and adored her 13 grandchildren Andres, Roberto, Zachary, Dominic, Luke, Raquel, Jarrad, Aaron, Joshua, Seth, Kristen, Trevyn, Khloe, and cherished her sister, Dorothy, sister-in- laws Carla & Lynda, brother-in- laws Marvin, Butch & Ron, cousins and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bertram and Agnes (Johnson) Winkler. Phyllis was a graduate of Illinois State University and member of Gamma Phi Circus. She taught 1st grade at Ludwig Grade School and was a pre-school teacher and children's choir director at Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church. She made life- long friends and shared her passion of music playing piano, organ, bass guitar, harp and singing in the choir. She enjoyed her volunteer work at Silver Cross Hospital gift shop and was an active member of Childerguild, Lockport Women's Club, and the Joliet Area of Theater Organists. Phyllis brought joy to her many friends and family. She enjoyed reading books, traveling, painting, sharing adventures with her children and grandchildren, and spending time in Cocoa Beach where you could find her on a boogie board on a wavy day. Her fun, friendly, sparkly personality was loved by everyone, and she will be greatly missed. Her family will receive friends at Goodale Memorial Chapel, 912 S. Hamilton St., Lockport, IL Wednesday, March 28th, 2018 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held at Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church, 925 E. 9th Street, Lockport, IL Thursday, March 29th, 2018, lying in state for visitation 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Celebration of Life Service begins at 10:30 AM, followed by Burial at Lockport City Cemetery.
