Myron "Mike'' Deacon

Myron L. "Mike" Deacon, 85, of Country Club Hills, passed away on Sept. 25, 2017. He was preceded in death by wife Francis Carol Deacon and daughter, Deborah Hinkle. He is survived by his loving family: Daughters: Dorothy (Gary) Smith of Naperville, Margaret "Peggy" Anderson, Country Club Hills, son-in-law, Charles (Kristina Schmidt) Hinkle. Grandchildren: Madison (Carolyn) Smith, Grant (Kristin) Smith, Matthew (Ransom) Ransom, Stephanie (A.J.) Ruopoli, Brianna Collins, Leslie (Matthew) Potter, seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Deacon was an Illinois National Guard member, worked at U.S. Steel Southworks, and was a volunteer fireman paramedic for the C.C. Hills Fire Dept until 1975 when he became full-time. In 1973 he received the C.C. Hills Man of the Year Award. He was a member of the Jaycees, receiving a Member of the Year award and a founding father of the C.C. Hills Girls Softball League. He coached for 10 years. Mike was a Deacon for United Christian Church of C.C. Hills where he was a Youth Counselor for the High School Group. Former member of the St. Boniface Church and Hyde Park Methodist Church. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Oct. 1st from Noon until the time of service at 4:00 p.m. at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423.
