NEWEY F. KEARNEY, SR.

Age 85, of Lockport, passed away on Friday, February 7th, 2014 at his home in Lockport, IL.

Newey is survived by his loving family, wife, Sybil H. Kearney (Helms), children, Vivian (Dave) Oxley, Francis Ann (James) Cooke, Newey Kearney, Jr., sister, Eleanor Lancey, grandchildren, Kelly Cooke, David (Suzanne) Oxley, Adrienne (Steve) Walton, Courtney (Michael) Turner, Nikki (John) Vann, great grandchildren, Chelsea, Shelby, Libby, Drew, Sadie, Bryce, Lauren, Libby and Olivia.

Newey was preceded in death by his parents, James & Frances Kearney, Sr., (Geddry), siblings, James Kearney, Jr., John Kearney, Alice Dolan and Phyllis Mills.

Newey was a Veteran of the United States Navy, the United States Marines Corps., and the United States Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion & VFW of Lockport. Newey was a Board member and past President of the USS CV-6 Enterprise Association as well as State President of the 2nd Marine Division Association. He was a life member of the Historical Society in Lockport and also retired as a Crane Operator from Unocal/Citco in Lemont. Newey always found time to repair the neighborhood kids bicycles and loved to travel.

Family will receive friends at Goodale Memorial Chapel, 912 S. Hamilton Street, Lockport, IL 60441 on Monday, February 10th, 2014 from 2:00 PM until time of funeral service at 6:00 PM. Interment will be private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
