Nick Skentzos, aged 54, of New Lenox, Illinois, passed away on March 18 2025. Born on January 3, 1971, in Greece, Nick brought joy and love to all who knew him throughout his journey in life.
For 12 years, Nick dedicated himself as a delivery driver for Ashland Propane, where he was known for his hardworking nature and commitment to his job. Beyond his professional career, he was a man of many passions and interests. An avid fisherman, Nick cherished the moments spent by the water, often accompanied by his children and his late wife Sherri. Together, they created countless memories while camping, kayaking, and hiking. His love for the outdoors was matched only by his unwavering support for his son's during sporting events—never missing a game, he was always the loudest cheerleader on the sidelines.
Nick’s culinary skills were well-known among his family and friends, as he delighted in cooking and sharing his famous recipes. He took immense pride in his Greek heritage, which he lovingly passed on to his children, ensuring that they understood the beauty and traditions of their ancestry.
He is survived by his two beloved sons, Nicholas (Sam Watson) and Vincent Skentzos. His family also includes his dear siblings: Christina (Kevin) Mannion, Gina (Bill) Stopka, and George Skentzos. Nick was a cherished brother-in-law to Fred (Diana) Ciocci, Dena Ciocci, Chris (Kevin) Spero, Dominic Ciocci, and Vince (Kelly) Ciocci. Additionally, he leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will carry his memory in their hearts. He was a loving son-in-law to Jerry Spero and is remembered fondly by his mother-in-law, Rosemarie "Chickie" Ciocci.
Nick was preceded in death by his wife Sherri Skentzos (nee Ciocci), parents, Konstantinos Skentzos and Georgia Skentzos, and his mother-in-law, Aggie Spero. He is also survived by his loving dog, Thor, who was always by his side.
As his family and friends gather to honor his memory, they will forever remember Nick Skentzos as a devoted father, a supportive family member, a passionate fisherman, and a proud Greek. His spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
