Oma L. Rajala nee Barnes
Age 93, of Lockport passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Alfred "Oli" Rajala; loving mother of Susan (Richard) Semrov, David (Jill) Rajala, and Lee Rajala; cherished grandmother of Janice (Ken) Bohac, Alan Grady, Jill (John) Batusich, Paul (Rachel) Rajala, and Matthew (Erin) Rajala; and great-grandmother of Shawn, Brendan, & Nolan Bohac, Thomas & Anna Grady, Jake & Joseph Batusich, Raegan & Cassidy Rajala, and Jackson & Kennedy Rajala. She was preceded in death by her sister Alma (Don) Kaes. Oma worked at Joliet Arsenal during World War II and Viet Nam and volunteered At Silver Cross Hospital. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #18, member of the Kings Daughters & Sons Association, and member of the Daughters of The American Revolution, Louis Joliet Chapter, District IV, and member of Will County Historical Society. She was a 50+ year member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Lockport, where she was a member of the Christian Women's Association. Oma enjoyed crafting, cooking, and cake decorating, in addition to being a tailor and a seamstress. The family would like to extend a very special Thank-You to Oma's longtime doctors; Dr. Gus Pedraza and Dr. Colin Sumida and caretakers Donna Cwudzinski and Judy Crook; in addition a Thank-you to Dr. Kantar. Family will receive friends at Goodale Memorial Chapel, 912 S. Hamilton St., Lockport, IL 60441 on Sunday, September 14, 2014 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. Funeral service Monday, September 15, 2014 at 10:30 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
