Patricia J. Allen, a beloved mother, grandmother, grade school teacher and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025, at her residence. Born on April 27, 1942, in Joliet, Illinois, Patricia lived a life dedicated to family, education, and service.
Patricia devoted her entire career to teaching in New Lenox, Illinois, where she inspired countless young minds through her kindness and welcoming demeanor. A graduate of St. Francis Academy in 1960, she went on to earn her bachelor's degree in education from the College of St. Francis, further solidifying her commitment to nurturing the next generation.
Family was at the heart of Patricia's life. She loved spending time with her family and friends, whether gathered around the dinner table or traveling together, creating cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of her loved ones. Patricia found joy in various activities and dedicated much of her time to volunteering at St. Jude Catholic Church. There, she was actively involved with the music ministry, where she played hand bells and delighted congregants with her singing in the choir.
She is survived by her loving sons, Jeffrey J. (Gina) Allen and Gregory J. (Christina) Allen; her grandchildren, Dominick, Anthony, and Michael Allen, Jacob and Cecilia Joy; a very special cousin, Andrea, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and a community of friends who will all miss her dearly. Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Allen; her sister, Rita Claire Samela; and her parents, Joseph and Victoria Judnich.
The visitation will take place on April 27, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kurtz Memorial Chapel Ltd, 102 Francis Rd, New Lenox, IL 60451. Prayers at the funeral home will be Monday morning 9:00am. A mass will be held on April 28, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Cathedral of Saint Raymond Nonnatus, located at 604 N Raynor Ave, Joliet, IL 60435, followed by interment at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 200 West Romeo Road, Romeoville, IL 60446.
Patricia's spirit of compassion and commitment to her family and community will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. Her legacy as a loving mother, grandmother, friend and educator will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to be part of her life.
