Richard J. Wingate

Richard J. Wingate, age 90, passed away peacefully, Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Loyola Hospital, with his family by his side.

Born September 30, 1926 in Hamburg, Iowa. He was the son of Hollis and Marie (Hein) Wingate.
He was a veteran of WWII in the U.S. Army, retired from the Rock Island Railroad after 38 years and was a member of St. Jude Church and Men's Club. He also was a member of the VFW and American Legion and participated in missionary work in Appalachia and Bolivia. Richard enjoyed spending time with his friends playing golf and card games.

He will be remembered as a loving husband for 68 years to Cecilia (Wellman) Wingate, and devoted father to Teri Clark, Kathy Peceniak, Mike Wingate, Carol (Duane) Niemann, Mark (Nancy) Wingate, Bill (Julie) Wingate, Mary (Bob) Hinchley and caring grandfather of twenty and great grandfather of fifteen.

He was preceded in death by his son Robert and daughter Mary Jane, his parents, three sisters and one brother.

Visitation services will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 from 3:00-8:00pm at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 Francis Road, New Lenox. The funeral Mass will be at 11:00am at St. Jude Church 241 W. Second Ave, New Lenox. Internment following at Maplewood Cemetery, New Lenox Road at Oak Drive in New Lenox.
