RICHARD E. ZAREMBA

Age 95, of Olympia Fields, passed away Saturday, September 21st, 2024 at Elevate Care in Country Club Hills. 

Richard is survived by his loving family, wife, Lucy Zaremba (Hankosky), daughter, Linda (Jeff) Gunderson, son in-law, Gary Mede, grandchildren, Eric (Victoria) Gunderson, Kevin (fiancée Arzu Patel) Gunderson, Michelle Mede, nephew, Robert (Kelly) Swiderski, niece, Laura Swiderski, sister in-laws, Josephine Hankosky (late Chester Hankosky), Dorothy Stauber (late Joseph Stauber), nieces and nephews, Diane and Mike Nowakowski, Mike and Diane Hankosky, Glenn and Eileen Hankosky, Karen and Alex Nackoul and Beverly Stauber. 

Richard was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Mede, sibling, Geraldine (late Louis) Swiderski and nephew Michael Swiderski.

Richard was a graduate of the University of Illinois with a degree in Electrical Engineering and served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion and volunteered as a Tax Assistant for senior citizens. He retired from both US Steel and General Mills and was known to be an avid golfer. 

Family will receive friends at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 7659 W. Sauk Trail, Frankfort, IL 60423 on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024 from 10:00 AM until time of the funeral mass at 11:00 AM. Interment, Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood IL. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
