Robert “Bob” L. Tovey, 77, of Surprise, Arizona for the last six years, formerly Tinley Park and Godley, Illinois passed away suddenly on November 9, 2024. Bob is survived by his daughter Amanda and son-in-law John Bullen of Peoria, Arizona, Grand-daughters, Evelyn and Lindy Bullen and former wife Carol, many friends and Union brothers. Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Linda “Lindy”and her husband John Meier, and parents Robert Andrew and Elizabeth Tovey.
A graduate of Tinley Park High School, Bob served as a Seabee in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He became a pipefitter and proud Union member of Local 597 where he worked 42 years before retiring. Bob was elected to office where he served as the Village President of Godley, Illinois and was a lifetime Member of the VFW 2791 Bremen Post in Tinley Park.
Bob truly enjoyed working on cars and anything he could build in his pole barn, loving his weenie dogs, spending time with his granddaughters, watching NCIS over and over, buying Christmas presents for others and teasing them relentlessly until they could open them, making up his own songs for every occasion, shopping, daily dinner specials, calling people sweathogs, socializing with everyone and helping his friends and family in anyway he could.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 17 th from 12:00 p.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 4:00 p.m. at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way in Frankfort.
