Sharon A. Ferrell
65, of New Lenox formerly of Channahon, IL, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Clarendale of Mokena after a 15-month battle with cancer. Sharon was born in Evergreen Park to the late Robert W. and Patricia A. (nee Kennealy) Smetana. Beloved wife of 36 years of the late James E. Ferrell; loving mother of Kathryn (Joshua) Tyler; caring step-mother of the late Lynn Leintz and the late Kristine Ferrell, cherished grandmother of James Tyler, Jesse Tyler, the late, infant grandson, Joseph R. Tyler, Justin Alexander, and Nicholas Knutson; dear sister of the late Robert (Laurie) Smetana, Denise (George) Haas, and Kevin Smetana; sister-in-law of the late David J. Friant; loved aunt of many. Sharon worked as a mechanic at Lyondell Petrochemical Plant (formerly Equistar) in Morris and prior to that arranged silk flowers and ran a daycare center. She was devoted to her family especially her grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Sharon’s name to St Jude School 241 W. Second Ave, New Lenox, IL 60451 Education Fund would be appreciated. Family and friends will be received Sunday, February 9, 2020 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, New Lenox. Inurnment will be private.
