Stanley J. Macek

March 6, 1934 — March 9, 2025

Stanley J. (Stan) Macek March 6, 1934 – March 9, 2025 devoted husband for 65 years, deceased Barbara C. Macek (Glowacki). Survived by his loving children and fondly known as “Our Dad” by David (Kristi), Dan (Kim) and Connie Wilcosky (Tom); grandfather of ten, Christopher (Michelle), Trevor, Paige, Michael, Cooper, and Rachel Macek; Teage (Dan) Hasselbring, Jacob (Jordan), Bennett and Alec Wilcosky; great grandfather of nine, Jack, James, Luke, Leo Macek; Kenny, Camryn, Daniel Hasselbring; Clarke and Sloane Wilcosky. Also survived by his beloved sister Arlene (Larry) Stepenske and their loving family.

Formative years spent in Berwyn, IL attending Morton High School and The Illinois Institute of Technology with a BS in Chemical Engineering. Served his country in the Army in Baltimore, Maryland. His professional career began at the Whiting Corp and retired from the Dedert Corp. Accomplished chemical engineer, with clients such as ADM, Red Gold, Bacardi, Pabst, Staley, and many others. In his own humble words, “I’m just a glorified plumber”.

His passion was baseball, the Cubs and sports in general. As a little league coach back in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s he was known as Stan the Stat Man. He embraced statistics and Sabre Metrics, before any of us knew what that meant, with a mechanical pencil and a piece of graph paper for a bunch of 9–12-year-olds, that went on to capture many titles. He was able to experience a Cubs crown in 2016 and for at least that year, forget the mantra of “Wait’ll next Year”.

But above all, family was number one. He met the love of his life that special night in Milwaukee in 1956, married in 1957 and never looked back. Proud of his Czech heritage and active in the Czechoslovak Genealogy Society International. Stan’s legacy of hard work, humility and unwavering devotion to family and friends will be forever remembered.
