Age 88, passed away on Monday, September 5th, 2022 at her home in Frankfort.

Theresa is survived by her loving family, husband, James Unnerstall, sons, Ronald (Allison) Unnerstall, Alan (Teresa) Unnerstall, sister, Rita (late Jerry) Robertson, grandchildren, Anna Unnerstall, Alex (fiancée Kristin Truesdale) Unnerstall, Nicklas Unnerstall, Samuel Unnerstall and numerous nieces and nephews.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, Walter & Helen Chapek (Sudinski), siblings, Bernard (Marie) Chapek, Lucille (Leo) Olen and Lorraine (Walter) Sieja.

Dedicated and loving spouse, mother and grandmother, Theresa’s heart was filled with love for her family and community. For 62 years, Theresa supported her husband, Jim, through his demanding work in the oil industry, while also raising two young children. Her volunteer work in schools, hospitals, humane societies, and resale shops made a lasting impact everywhere she lived from Indiana to Texas, to Wyoming to Illinois. In each location, she volunteered at hospital gift shops distributing flowers along with books & magazines. While her work was quiet, it did not go unnoticed.

In addition to her volunteer work, she enjoyed a life full of activities including golf, bowling, tennis, macrame, card game groups, cooking, and word games. She will be greatly missed.

The Unnerstall family would like to give special thanks to Tina and Marcella, Theresa’s caregivers the last few years.

Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423 on Friday, September 9th, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral service, Saturday, September 10th, 2022 with prayers at the funeral home at 12:00 PM and then to St. Anthony Catholic Church, 7659 W.
