Thomas P. Lyons

Age 73, of Mokena formerly of Lansing and Chicago (St. Bride's Parish), passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2016. Loving husband of Susan (nee Mohan); beloved father of Kevin (Maria) Lyons, Kerry (Chris) Duffie and Colleen Lyons; dearest brother of Edward (Eileen) Lyons, Margaret "Peggy" (Jack) Harkins and Jerry Lyons; cherished and proud grandfather of Elizabeth Duffie, Jackson Lyons, Emmett Duffie and Mallory Lyons, beloved uncle and cousin to many. Thomas was a teacher at Lincoln School in Calumet City, and he also worked for the Chicago Park District. He was a baseball coach at Mt. Carmel High School where he was the Catholic League Coach of the Year in 1971. He is a member of the Mt. Carmel Hall of Fame and the Offensive Baseball player of the year award is named after him. He was also a recruiter for baseball and football for St. Xavier University and the College of St. Francis.
Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423 on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM. prayers on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 9:15 Am in the funeral home chapel leaving for St. Mary Church, Mokena for a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial.
