THOMAS ANTHONY SIUREK
On July 7, 2024 Thomas Anthony Siurek 86, passed away in Frankfort, IL. Thomas was born in East Chicago, IN. to Stanley and Celia Siurek on December 27, 1937. He graduated from St. Stanislaus Elementary School and East Chicago Roosevelt High School. He received a football scholarship from Butler University and played for legendary coach Paul “Tony” Hinkle. He graduated in 1959 with a degree in Business. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity and started his career with Texaco Inc., in Memphis TN as a Marketing Trainee. Throughout his 38 years of service, he was transferred seven times to a higher management position and retired in 1996 in Dallas TX. He received the Texaco Super Star award, a recognition which was based on individual contribution to Corporate Performance.
Thomas was a registered High School football official in three states and a member of Butler’s Touchdown Club. He developed a passion for golf in his later years and participated in several Pro-Am events in Dallas. While living in Naperville he was President of the Naperville Youth Football program and was a Coach of youth baseball teams. He was an avid collector of United States stamps, enjoyed outdoor gardening, fishing in Canada and financial personal investing. He also served as President of the local Homeowners Association for 5 years and a Board member for an additional 5 years.
Throughout his lifetime, Thomas instilled in his family a strong work ethic and a “can do-will do” attitude. When faced with adversity he persevered, he embraced challenges with a positive outlook. Most recently, at 85, he survived double heart bypass surgery, making the decision that any additional time with his family would be a blessing. He will be remembered for his quick wit but most importantly his unwavering and steadfast love for his family.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Thomas married his High School sweetheart Mona Sudinski in East Chicago IN., in 1959 and they enjoyed 65 years of wedding bliss. They had three children; Pamela Kabureck (Keith) of Bloomington IL., Thomas Siurek of Naperville, IL., and Jo Ellen Stone (Jeff) of Frankfort IL. Blessed with seven grandchildren: Ashley Brown, Alyssa Gerard, Alexis Siurek, Samantha Siurek, Thomas Siurek II, Lilly and Andrew Stone. Additional special blessings for three Great Grandchildren, Audrey Brown of Warrensburg IL., and brothers Jameson and Grayson Gerard of Normal IL. Sister Elaine Oakley, Brother-in-Law’s John Oakley, Lee Sudinski and Sister-in-Law Marguerite Gearman predeceased him.
Funeral arrangements coordinated by Kurtz Funeral Home, Frankfort, Il. and mass will be held at St Anthony’s Catholic Church 7659 W. Sauk Trail Frankfort IL., Monday July 29th 2024 at 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations to Butler University Hinkle Fieldhouse Room 1130, 4600 Sunset Ave., Indianapolis, IN. 46208
