Valerie Ann Danek

Valerie Ann Danek (nee Burrer), known as 'Vivi' by her family, passed away after an unfortunate fall on September 2nd, 2020 at the age of 71. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Richard Keith Danek and her parents, Emma (Mosso) Burrer and Val George Burrer. She is survived by her son Keith (Susan) Danek and their sons Jaden and Tivon, and daughter Heather (Kevin) McHale and their children Reannon, Shane, Tessa and Kellen as well as her sister Kathryn (Richard) and Emma Hyer as well as many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Valerie grew up in Elyria, OH and attended St. Jude’s and Elyria Catholic High School. She then attended Rosary College, met Richard early on and they were married in 1970. Valerie was a devout Catholic, and was an Associate and longtime member and volunteer at St Francis of the Woods in Frankfort. Valerie and Richard were longtime residents of Frankfort after moving there in 1986. Valerie taught in Catholic schools before becoming a stay at home mom, during this time she went back to college to get a Master’s Degree from Chicago State University. She taught 1st grade at Fierke Elementary until she retired in 2009 and was able to fully enjoy her 6 grandchildren. From babysitting, birthday sleepovers, making cookies, sending cards, taking them on walks and adventures, giving generous gifts and Easter Egg hunts, she loved every minute of it. If you knew Valerie, ‘sweet’ is often the first word that comes to mind to describe her.

Valerie was a truly selfless person, never wanting to inconvenience anyone. In these challenging days of Covid-19, she would not want anyone to put their health at risk to attend her services. Please know if you are unable to attend due to health concerns, her services will be recorded and a video will be made available for those who are unable to attend.
The family will receive friends for visitation at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, New Lenox on Monday, September 7, 2020 from 10:00am – 1:00pm. Masks and Social Distancing are MANDATORY for ALL attending. Due to Covid-19 restrictions a private family interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Frankfort, IL.
