Age 89, of Lockport passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice House in Joliet.

Verna is survived by her loving family, children, Leonard (Kathleen) Barney, William (Mary Pat) Barney, Patricia (Anthony) Jandura, sister, Sophie Segatto, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents, Martin & Veronica Shalka (Pasternak), husband, Leo Barney, siblings, Anna Hatak, John (Ann) Gelon, Mary (Earnest) Mayer, Francis (John) Kantor, Joseph (Margaret) Glanek and brother-in-law Victor Segatto.

Verna was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lockport and a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #18 in Lockport.

Family will receive friends at Goodale Memorial Chapel, 912 S. Hamilton Street, Lockport, IL 60441 on Monday, December 26th, 2016 from 9:30 AM until time of prayers at 10:30 AM and then on to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 410 S. Jefferson Street, Lockport, IL 60441 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Interment, Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Joliet, IL.
