Wanda C Habenicht

November 19, 1940 — March 22, 2023


Mrs. Wanda Corrine Habenicht (Earner), daughter of the late William and Vada Earner (Bush),

was born on November 19, 1940, in Blue Island, Illinois. She attended St. Benedict Catholic

School and Eisenhower High School in Blue Island, Illinois. During High School was a valued

Shooting Guard for the Girls’ Varsity Basketball Team. After High School, Wanda worked as a

Nurses’ Aide at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, Illinois.


Wanda met the “Love of her Life” Dale Habenicht in 1959 at a “stop and go light” and married

him the following summer in 1960. The happy couple has lived in Frankfort, Illinois for the last

50 years and celebrated 62 years of marriage on June 25, 2022.


Wanda loved her family and her many friends, along with the countless number of pets she

owned due to her passion and love of animals. Wanda had a competitive spirit and enjoyed

both golf and bowling, spending many years on a Womans’ and Mixed Couple Bowling League

along with her love of oil painting. She was also active in her local Alcoholic Anonymous

Chapter and enjoyed 50 years of sobriety; Wanda was very compassionate and devoted to

many charitable causes.


Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her three children Dennis Habenicht, Debra

Frezza (Habenicht-Sherman), and Darin Habenicht along with their families Lori Habenicht

(Hanesworth), Jeffrey Frezza and Kathryn Habenicht (Battenfield); grandchildren Keller

Habenicht, Katelyn (Katie) Sherman, Lindsey Sherman, Nicholas (Nick) Frezza, Carley Frezza,

Hailey Duffy (Habenicht), Ashley Francis, Tyler Habenicht, Emily Storbeck (Francis), Dash

Phoenix Habenicht, Riley Habenicht, and Sky Walker Habenicht; great-grandchildren Henry &

Theodore Duffy plus numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Wanda was preceded in death by

her brothers Thomas Earner of Chicago, Illinois and Rodney Earner of Blue Island, Illinois.


Services will be held on Monday, March 27th from 3pm – 8pm at Kurtz Memorial Chapel

located at 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, Illinois 60423 with funeral services on Tuesday,

March 28th at 10am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church located at 6201 W. Vollmer Road, Matteson,

Illinois 60443. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted for the Alzheimer’s Research &

Prevention Foundation at P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
