Wayne A. Sobota

 Wayne A. Sobota, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Silver Cross Hospital surrounded by his wife and children. 

 He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty (nee Green) Sobota; children, Jennifer (Aaron) Pilon, Anna (Dan) Lyons, and Andrew (Nicole Prosser) Sobota; grandchildren, Ava, Jacob, Matthew, Luke, Cole, Andrew, Noah, Rose, Lucas, Emma, and our angel Elizabeth; his sister Rosa (Steve) Kusner; and his nieces Gina Cummings and Trisha Buettner. 

 Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Augusta Sobota. 

 Wayne was married to his lifelong love, Betty, for 52 years and was the proud father of three children, and grandfather of ten. He dedicated over 40 years to his career as a pharmacist, and brought his quick wit and lighthearted nature to work every day. A member of St. Mary's Church, he was involved in parish life, attending daily mass and particularly enjoying the Wednesday school mass with his grandchildren. 

 Wayne was the most loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and cousin anyone could ask for. He had a passion for sharing food with family and friends. He never bought anything without a coupon or it being on sale, in his lifelong pursuit to find the best deal. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, going to breakfast and coffee with his wife, baking for others, and watching Providence football games. His passion for life was contagious and he took on all life's challenges with a smile. He will be remembered for his kindness, humility, and humor by all those whose lives he touched. 

 Services for Wayne will begin on Monday, January 13, 2024 with a visitation at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, in Frankfort, from 3pm-8pm. Services will continue the following day with a short visitation at the funeral home from 8:30am-9:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 19515 115th Ave in Mokena. Wayne will be laid to rest at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Mokena.
