Wayne Banks Vanderlee

July 19, 1930 — February 25, 2025

Wayne Banks Vanderlee, age 94, a resident of Orland Park formerly of South Holland, passed away on February 25, 2025 at Smith Crossing in Orland Park. Wayne is survived by his loving family: son Keith (Michelle) Vanderlee, grandchildren Alexis, Abigail, and Alexander; daughter Karen Spangler (Vanderlee), grandchildren Ariel (Daniel) Holm (Nichoson), and Edward Stump

Wayne was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years Margaret “Peggy” Ann Vanderlee (Grugett) and grandson John Robert Nichoson.

Wayne was a licensed professional Engineer in the state of Illinois. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and a master’s in business administration degree from Loyola University. He was drafted during college and proudly served in the Army in the Korean War. Wayne was awarded a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal, departing as a Corporal. He worked in various capacities for Exelon for 40 years and was a member of Thorn Creek Reformed Church of South Holland.

Inurnment for Wayne and Margaret “Peggy” will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Rd. Elwood, Illinois on Friday, May 23, 2025 at 1:30 P.M.
