Wilfred “Wil” Charles Nickerson, 80 of Mt. Sterling, IL and Mission, TX, passed away suddenly in McAllen, Texas on April 22, 2021. Beloved husband of 59 years to Mary Ann nee Cappelletti, father of Dr. Matthew (Pamela) Nickerson of Wheaton, the late William (Valerie Miller) Nickerson, Angela (Curtis) Starman of Camp Point. “Grampa” of Alexander, Brandon (Alissa), Jaclyn, Julie Nickerson, Trevor (fiancé Bleu Arbuthnot), Kennedy Nickerson, Jared (Allison), Jenna, Jalen Starman. “Great-grampa” of Benjamin Starman. Brother of late Clinton (Sylvia) Nickerson, late Wallace Nickerson, Cynthia (Pat) Murphy, late Clover (William) Miller and brother-in-law of Carol Cappelletti. A grad of East Leyden HS and an IIT grad, Wil retired from IDOT where he worked as a professional engineer. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserves and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and Euchre. Visitation, Thur., April 29, 4:00-8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423.
