William Richard Rhind

William “Bill” Richard Rhind, 87, of Chicago Heights passed away on Nov. 6, 2023. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Carol Rhind; daughters: Carrie (Mike) Welf of Homewood, Cyndy (Bob) Gerecke of Chicago Heights; Grandchildren: Ryan (Katie) Tracy, Christen (Beau) Rogers, Kayla (Jason) Amodio, Brian, Eric, and Allison Gerecke and Great-grandchildren: Andrew, Molly, Mackenzie, Jack, Sean, and Nick; brother, Jerry (Kim) Rhind of FL. Bill was preceded in death by his siblings: Gloria (Karl) Markl and James Rhind. Born to the late Dr. Eric and Dorothy Rhind, DDS in Harvey, Bill was raised in Homewood. He met his wife Carol in 1949 when they were 8th grade classmates. They both graduated from Thornton Township H.S. class of 1954 and were soon married. After graduating from Knox College in Galesburg with a Bachelors of Economics, Bill and Carol settled in Chicago Heights where they raised their family and built a home in 1960. Working in management in purchasing and facilities for Yellow Pages, Bill retired when the company was known as DonTech. They have enjoyed a home in Union, MI and lake life since 1993 and spending time with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As a 50 plus year member of the First Presbyterian Church of Chicago Heights, Bill served as a Deacon, Trustee and Elder and was a member of the choir. Bill was also a member of FIJI. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Nov. 25, 2023 from 10 a.m. until the time of Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Chicago Heights, 900 Thomas St., Chicago Hts., IL, 60411. In lieu of flowers Memorial Tributes may be directed to the Memorial Fund of the First Presbyterian Church of Chicago Heights.
