WILLIAM 'Bill' GEORGE SIMNICK, SR

September 28, 1939 - January 1, 2025

85, of New Lenox, IL. William passed away suddenly and peacefully with his daughter Linda by his side, surrounded by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. William suffered a stroke at home on October 4, 2024. He was able to enjoy a final visit with his son Dennis during his illness, which meant everything to them both. He was born in Riverdale, IL to Albert and Marie (Keisler) in 1939. William was a Teamster Local 710 member who drove for Advance Transportation for over 30 years. He resided in Lockport, IL from 1976 to 2003. Retiring at the age of 57, William and Sharon relocated to Pass Christian, MS to enjoy retirement in a nicer climate. He suffered great loss of everything when Hurricane Katrina moved through the area but he was determined to stay. He rebuilt but moved to the neighboring town of Long Beach, MS. After the passing of Sharon, William moved to New Lenox, IL in 2018 where he resided with his daughter Linda. 

William was preceded in death by his wife Sharon (Spaet) of 52 years, his parents Albert and Marie (Keisler), siblings Albert, Robert, Patricia, and Grace. Also preceding him in death; his son William Jr, daughter Laura, son Rodney, grandson John McBurnie, great granddaughter Tahlihn Starr Freeman, and great grandson Nathan Sherman.

He is survived and will be greatly missed by his daughter, Linda Simnick (Robert Cox), her children Robert and Jeremy Bick, Jaime (John) Freeman, Cody (Kristin), Hailey, and Paizley Hermosillo. Great grandchildren Kiera, Raina, and Ryan Bick, Stryker, Chezni, Winika, and Khitley Freeman. His son, Dennis (Judi) Simnick, of Jacksonville, FL, their children Nicholas and Heather Simnick, and Emily (Donavon) Simnick-Burden. Great grandchildren Evalyn, Ariana, and Alina Simnick, Cambria, Ellie, and Kayn Burden. His first grandchild, daughter of the late Laura Simnick, Rachelle Simnick (James) Sherman and their son Matthew Sherman, great grandson Bradley, son of the late John McBurnie.

He will be missed by his long time former co-workers and friends Elaine Wolf and Joanne Young, also his favorite companion of 8 years Ebonie....IYKYK.

Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Road, New Lenox, IL 60451 on Thursday, January 9th, 2025 from 10:00 AM until time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment, Oakland Memory Lanes, Dolton IL.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
