William C. Walter, age 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at Lightways Hospice in Joliet.
William is survived by his beloved family including his daughter Linda (Bill) Macy; grandchildren, Ryan Macy, and Lori (Brian) Macy-Meltzer; great grandchildren, Beckham Meltzer and Brooklyn Meltzer; brother, Phillip (Joan) Walter; sisters, Judith (Bill) Preuss and Susan (Jim) Kreger; cherished cousins, Terry McCready and Charles (Sandy) Peters; and his best friend Keith Madsen.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Shirley Ann Walter; and his parents, William and Catherine Walter.
William was raised in Dalton, IL and moved to New Lenox in 1998. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War where he served his country bravely as an Army Paratrooper. William owned and operated his own business, Walter’s Heating and Sheet Metal Corp. until his retirement in 2006. He was heavily involved with his community, a proud member of the VFW Post 9545, and will be remembered fondly by so many.
Services for William will be held on Wednesday, August 21st, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 N. Cedar Road in New Lenox with a visitation from 10am until time of the Funeral Service at 11am. William will be laid to rest privately with his wife at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
